Investing in Warrington’s Future Workforce

PAS NW Ltd has proudly welcomed its first cohort of 13 apprentices, who officially started work and life on site this month across some of our 15 active locations — with four of them deployed on Linden Homes’ flagship Warrington development, Radley Woods at Peel Hall Garden Village, and its Heath Farm development in Partington.

The apprentices represent the first wave of a brand-new partnership between PAS and Warrington & Vale Royal College, aimed at developing future talent through a dedicated Level 2 Groundworks Apprenticeship Programme - the first of its kind in Cheshire & Warrington.

Dave Andrews, Operations Director at PAS NW Ltd, said: “It’s fantastic to see our first 13 apprentices now active on site, working alongside experienced teams and getting a real feel for the job. This is more than just a scheme — it’s a serious investment in local people, our industry, and the future of construction in Warrington. We’re proud to be leading from the front.”

The programme - which moves to the classroom in September 2025 - will blend curriculum learning at the college’s Construction & Civil Engineering Academy (CCEA) with hands-on training at major live sites including Peel Hall Garden Village, where PAS NW is delivering infrastructure for 1,200 new homes.

Dave added: “We’ve worked closely with Warrington & Vale Royal College to design a training experience that reflects the real world of groundworks. It’s about more than plugging skills gaps - it’s about shaping confident, capable site teams for the future.

With the support of Vistry and our wider partners, these apprentices will benefit from top tier equipment, dedicated welfare space, and structured guidance from the moment they step on site.”

Nichola Newton, CEO and Principal of Warrington & Vale Royal College, said: “We’re thrilled to see the first group of apprentices already making their mark. This collaboration shows exactly what’s possible when industry and education come together with shared ambition - creating meaningful pathways into construction and civil engineering careers.”

Zac Worthington, Managing Director at Vistry Merseyside and Cheshire West, commented: “We’re always keen to help people kickstart a career in construction. Radley Woods at Peel Hall Garden Village is a great example of a large, diverse site, where these apprentices will gain great insight into high-quality housebuilding. I’m looking forward to seeing how they progress and the input they’ll have on this development which is coming very soon.”

The 18-month programme focuses on the six core industry skills essential for groundworks success:

– Technical knowledge

– Practical ability

– Problem-solving

– Communication

– Health & Safety awareness

– Time management

The college’s CCEA, based at the Winwick Road campus, has recently received a £3.6 million Town Deal investment, supporting advanced training and access to digital tools aligned with the future of construction.
